No paid placement, ever: how PriceTik keeps results organic

Here is a promise we put in writing: you cannot pay for placement on PriceTik. There is no sponsored row, no boost, no bid. There never will be.

That sounds like a small thing. It isn't.

How comparison sites usually make money

Plenty of "comparison" and "deal" sites quietly sell ranking. A brand pays, and its result floats to the top — dressed up to look like an organic match. The shopper assumes they're seeing the best option for them, when they're often seeing the best option for whoever paid the most that week.

We earn money too — PriceTik takes an affiliate commission when a purchase completes through one of our partner networks. The difference is what that money is allowed to touch.

What our commission does and doesn't do

• It does keep PriceTik free to use, for people and for agents.
• It does not influence what appears, or in what order.

Results are ranked purely by relevance to what was asked for, using live prices pulled from the source. A higher commission rate doesn't buy a higher position. A brand can't pay to appear for a query it doesn't actually match. Those aren't settings we chose not to enable — they aren't part of the system at all.

Why this matters more in an agent world

When a person uses a comparison site, they can sometimes spot a sponsored result and discount it. An AI agent optimizing for "best price" usually can't. If the ranking is secretly for sale, the agent faithfully passes a biased answer to the person who trusted it — and neither of them ever knows.

The only way to make a comparison tool trustworthy for agents is to remove the incentive to distort it. So we did.

How to verify it yourself

• Run the same search twice — ordering is driven by relevance and live price, not by who's paying.
• Connect the MCP server and inspect the raw tool output your agent receives. It's the same data the website renders.
• Read how brands get listed: the path in is an affiliate product feed, not an ad buy.

Honest ranking is the whole product. Everything else we build sits on top of that.
